Kim Harrison
Well, I have to admit that my tastes for all things paranormal began at an early age with authors like Andre Norton, but my current passion is all things Vampire or Werecreature. I like them all, whether romance, mystery, action, or horror. But my favorite author right now has to be Kim Harrison. Her books pivot around a Witch who shares a business and home with a living Vampire (one who was born a vamp and has not yet died) and a pixie. The three of them get into some funny and sometimes hair-raising adventures and I love her style and corky sense of humor. Her characters are very believable and her descriptions bring every part of her story to life.

I have a couple
Just as a note, I'll read just about anything once. But my main pleasure in reading is Fantasy. Witches, vamps, weres, demons, will all get my attention quickly and keep me interested.
First and foremost for me is Stephen King. There's nothing I'd like more than to read his books, esp his Dark Tower Series. He's an amazing writer. Now, it is hard to scare me, very hard actually, and it doesn't happen often. But some of his stories just creep me out majorly. Not scare me, creep me out. Cause there is a difference.
Second would be Anne Rice and her Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches. She writes her characters so well and keeps me locked into her stories. I am obsessed with her VC books. You know you love the characters when you start thinking that they are actual people living in this world and you want to go and find them.
Oooh, I love John Grisham too. I know it's not in the norm for what I usually read but I absolutely adore his books. I have them all, every single one. Including the ones that aren't his usual, lawyers, criminals, power companies, etc. He has written a non-fiction book about a man who was sentenced to Death Row for a crime he didn't commit, really excellent stuff.
The last one, for now, is a new find of mine. His name is Tad Williams and he writes in the Fantasy genre. His books are usually a part of a series of 3 books. He is excellent. And while I've only read one of his series, I do have another series on order.
